2baba Idibia & Burna Boy are the purest music talents the Nigerian music industry has ever witnessed. I’m speaking based on purely music prowess. Put aside streams, charts success, awards, etc. They’re exclusively in a class of their own.

Wande Coal would’ve featured in this conversation, but Wande didn’t utilize his talents enough, & he obviously doesn’t have the catalogue to be grouped with 2baba & Burna.

2baba & Burna have the widest sonic range in Nigerian music. 2baba delivered on hip hop beats, sang RnB, reggae, highlife & has one of the most powerful vocals we’ve ever heard. Not to mention his superb lyrical prowess. This is why, after many years, his music is still enjoyable & meaningful.

Burna can rap. Does ragga, dancehall etc. His afrufusion is excellent. And his ability to reimagine classic hits & turn them to modern-day hits is a special skill on its own.

Or are we to talk about his lyrical ability? Burnaboy is unarguably the most lyrically sound & versatile modern-day Nigerian artiste. Or who can you compare to him?

Many years to come, we’d still be listening & enjoying Burna’s music, while we may not remember those of some of his contemporaries. And that’s facts!
